June Meeting Report, Lafayette Arts & Crafts Center News
We had a fantastic time at the June meeting, playing with mold-making materials and UV Resin. Thank you, Lizette, for the demos and bringing so many supplies to share with our guild.
We need to send a special thanks to Lisa Pavelka and Lisa Lambright of The Great Create for sending resin, bezel, and waterslide transfer samples for everyone in our guild. They even included a discount code so you can order more supplies online.
If you weren’t able to make it to the meeting, let Barbara know and she can get a sample pack to you (or share the discount code).
Check out the Gallery below to see some of the great projects that were made during the meeting.
Lafayette Art Center Rental Update
At the June meeting we discussed the future of our guild’s meetings at the Arts & Crafts Center. The consensus is that meeting at the center has been very beneficial for the guild and all those present want to continue meeting there. To that end, the following decisions were made and agreed upon:
- Guild funds will be used to pay rent for July (in the event that the June 22 class does not cover those fees).
- We will not meet in August due to so many people planning on being out of town or otherwise committed. We will meet in September, and depending on what agreement is reached with the Center, may or may not need to pay rent for that month’s meeting.
- We will raise dues to cover rental fees for at least half the meetings each year ($75 per month or $825 for 11 meetings per year). The other half of the year’s rent would be covered by fundraising the one or all of these methods:
- When the new Center Manager is announced, Barbara will contact him/her and work to continue our current arrangement of donating a class each month and the class fees being used to cover rental fees.
- Holding classes (off site if need be) to raise money for the guild to cover rent at the Center.
Dues
Beginning immediately, dues will be $20 every 6 months OR $30 annually. Dues will be collected at the first meeting of the year in January and at the first meeting in July. If you cannot attend either meeting, please mail your check (made out to Tallahassee Polymer Clay Guild) to:

July Meeting and Supplies List

As part of the July meeting, we’ll explore the Sutton Slice technique. Bring your basic clay kit, deep textured unmounted stamps (such as these ) and a small tile (4″ square) to bake on.
For the remainder of the meeting, please bring your own projects.
