October Meeting Location Change

Our meeting in October will take place on Sunday, October 7 starting around 130 PM.

We will be meeting at my (Barbara’s) house at 410 Vinnedge Ride. We’ll either take over the front room or retreat downstairs to the studio. Husband, son and dog will be around but involved with other things. Bring snacks…I’ll make some iced tea.

Ellen will lead us in a Autumn-themed mini class making polymer acorn charms. These can be made small enough to use as earrings or charm bracelet components or large enough to serve as a pendant.

Barbara will demo making wrapped loops using headpins. This can be a very secure connection for charms, pendants, and earrings.

Bring your basic clay kit and a small selection of clay colors. If desired, bring headpins, a flush cutter, and roundnose pliers or you can borrow Barbara’s

Meeting Location will be Changing

After I announced the poll results last week, I called Michaels to let them know we wanted to meet a little bit later in the afternoon to accommodate those members that weren’t able to attend until 130 PM or later.  I was informed that Michaels classroom is no longer available to us on a consistent basis. They are now scheduling classes on Sunday afternoons. They did offer the use of their employee breakroom, but the space is just not right for the guild. Among other things, we wouldn’t be able to bring an oven and cure clay and employees would be coming in and out of the room pretty much all day.

Yarn Therapy recently expanded their store and the owner, Marianne, has generously offered one of the work tables in the shop for our Guild if we want to meet there on Monday Nights from 6-8 PM when they have their Group Therapy event. We’d be welcome to meet there more than once a month, too. Please let me know how you feel about a Monday night option.  Yarn Therapy is in Midtown (Duval Plaza) and in the shopping plaza just south of where JoAnns is located.

I will investigate other options for Sunday afternoons with Saturday afternoons being a fall-back position.

Registration Open for Jana Roberts Benzon Two-Day Workshop
