June Program: Secret Garden Brooch with Ellen
H’lo, Everyone. This is Ellen Mea Culpa Bellenot writing about June’s demo of the Secret Garden brooch.
This is late getting to you Not because of our Fearless Leader but because I missed seeing her email.
You may’ve noticed that the sample is a doodle. I’ve managed to lose the samples for all three demos that I was working on at Fandango. It’s a gift. They’ll turn up but not today, apparently.

Anyways, it’s a simple thing that’s open to your own variations and I’m confident you’ll have them.
You’ll need clay including small amounts of flower and leaf colors
and all the basic stuff. You’ll also need:
- circle cutters in various sizes,
- tiny flower cutters or press molds if you have them,
- exacto knife or equivalent
- slump molds/domes for making the dome shapes for the brooch
- (think tiny dishes or light bulbs or glass Christmas ornaments)
- two sizes of large-ish spoons if something I just thought of works
- (but considering how it went at Fandango, I wouldn’t worry about the spoons)
- pin back
- hot fix crystals if you’re given to that sort of thing
Note from Barb: On the Michaels clearance rack in Tallahassee, there are packages of metal bath-bomb molds. They make wonderful slump molds.
