Summer 2025 Guild Challenge
This past winter, Cindy spent several weeks in Alaska helping a friend recover from surgery. Her friend in an avid quilter and Cindy was inspired by one of the quilts – it used a limited palette of black, white, and blue.

Fast forward to summer 2025 and Cindy is hosting a Challenge event for our guild. Information and ‘rules’ are below.
Black, White, and One Color Challenge
Challenge yourself by working with a limited color palette – black, white, and one other color of your choice.
You may use colors as is or mix your color of choice with black or white to create tints and hues. You may create a veneer or a cane using black, white, and your chosen color. You may create multiple entries.
Members have until our July 31 to work on this challenge. All participants should submit clear photographs of their challenge item(s) by July 31 AND present their challenge pieces live on Zoom at the August 2 meeting if possible.
Awarded recognition for:
- The best use of an additional color
- The best use of tints and hues
- The best use of black and white
Optional: Match with another guild member to swap finished canes or veneers. We’ll have more information on that later.
Color Mixing Recipe Cards
Cindy obtained permission from Cara (aka The Serial Creative) to distribute these color recipe cards for members to use when creating their tints and hues. Instructions on how to use these cards is here.
