Anyone lucky enough to take a visit the Caribbean is familiar with the gorgeous stone called Larimar, a blue pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic.

While experimenting with Cernit translucent and related colors, Cindy created a polymer version of larimar stone. She will be demo this for the guild at our July 6 meeting. Below are some jewelry and component examples, along with the Fimo Effect color mentioned in the supplies.

Supplies List

  • Translucent polymer clay 2 ounces Cernit Premo Fimo or Kato
  • White polymer clay 2 ounces Cernit Premo Fimo or Kato
  • 2 ounces Fimo color 505 8020. Mint special effect
  • Optional: Cernit Transclucent in Emerald and Blue Turquoise (Available at most Michael’s Stores)
  • 2 ounces of a metallic polymer clay for the bezel. I used Premo Antique Gold
  • Molds for creating gems
  • Some bead baking pin
  • An extruder would be helpful for this project

If you use clay other than Kato please leach half an ounce of the clay so that it crumbles.
