Squiggles of Delight
Thanks to Diana for a wonderful demo of squiggle beads. The technique is not difficult and open to all sorts of variations. We had a great time playing around with the technique after the demo ended and Nancy finished a necklace before the meeting ended. Bettye was well on her way to having enough beads to get several necklaces made.
The most important part of the meeting was settling in to our new home, Making Awesome. The space and lighting are great, we have an area for our oven and storage for coffee supplies AND use of a large screen TV to broadcast the Zoom. No more crowding around the computer screen!
Reminder: you do not need to be a member of Making Awesome to attend our meetings, but you do need to be a member of our guild. Your first two Guild Meeting visits are complimentary.
We do encourage our members to check out the memberships at Making Awesome as you’d have access to 3D printers, laser cutters, a full jewelry studio, a lapidary shop, a woodshop, and more.
Nancy (L) and Diana (R) Diana, Cindy (rear), Bettye (front) Bettye, Cindy, Ellen, and Nancy Hey, we can see!
Upcoming Meetings
- November 1: Program Needed
- December 6: Program Needed
- January 3: Program Needed
- February 7 & 8: Chilly Clay Retreat
As we’ve mentioned before, the Guild’s leadership team could use some ongoing help:
Demo Coordinator(s)
- seeks out and schedules demos for the monthly meetings
- works with the Special Event Chairs to schedule special guest demos for events,
- responsible for providing demo info, pictures, and supplies lists for the website articles,
- communicating with demonstrators and teachers.
Special Event Chair(s)
- Plan the Guild’s two annual Retreats – Claybor Day in September and Chilly Clay Days in February.
- schedule demos/guest teachers with the Demo Coordinator
- arrange catering and/or potluck sign-up
- schedule volunteers for meal cleanup and end of event cleanup
- setting event budgets
Other roles that would be helpful are Membership Chair and Website Editor. Both roles would involve some level of technical knowledge.
