Scraptastic Saturday

Our next meeting is taking place on Saturday, November 1.

On site setup starts at 9:30 AM, Zoom Opens at 1030, and Demo is at 11.

Barb will demo at least four different ways to use up scrap clay (colors plus black and white). Anyone else have some creative ways to use up the leftover bits of Skinner blends, canes, and conditioned sheets? Here’s your chance to show it off!

Supplies list to follow in the next newsletter.

Location Change

Please note location change – we will be meeting this month at Making Awesome not just on Zoom. There are few things to know:

  • Closed toed shoes must be worn
  • Pay attention to posted ‘no parking’ areas. If needed, unload your gear and move your car.
  • Someone will be outside to let you in with the card key and direct you to the meeting area.
  • Coffee service will be available – bring your cup.
  • Bring lunch in a small cooler – the on site refrigerator is quite small.
  • Oven off at 2:30 and must be out by 3 PM
  • Other Making Awesome members will be on site at the same time.

Upcoming Meetings

  • December 6: Program Needed
  • January 3: Program Needed
  • February 7 & 8: Chilly Clay Retreat

Volunteers Needed ASAP

We’ve asked before and we’re asking again. Without new volunteers to take on the roles needed to run the Guild, the Guild will falter. We’re not asking anyone to take over as President (yet) but having one or more people take on the following roles would help immensely. The Guild turns 20 next year and we need to start talking about succession planning.

Demo Coordinator(s)
  • seeks out and schedules demos for the monthly meetings
  • works with the Special Event Chairs to schedule special guest demos for events,
  • responsible for providing demo info, pictures, and supplies lists for the website articles,
  • communicating with demonstrators and teachers.
Special Event Chair(s)
  • Plan the Guild’s two annual Retreats – Claybor Day in September and Chilly Clay Days in February.
  • schedule demos/guest teachers with the Demo Coordinator
  • arrange catering and/or potluck sign-up
  • schedule volunteers for meal cleanup and end of event cleanup
  • setting event budgets

Other roles that would be helpful are Membership Chair and Website Editor. Both roles would involve some level of technical knowledge.
