‘Chili’ Clay Retreat Report and March Meeting Announcement
WOW! What a wonderful weekend we had at Lemoyne in February. Great food, great company, and great sharing of ideas, techniques, encouragement. All told we had 17 attendees over the weekend. The registration fee covered expenses for the weekend and added about $50 to our account. This will go towards paying our rental at Lafayette Arts and Crafts Center.
Thank you to:
- Our demo providers: Barbara, Cindy, Ellen, and Lizette.
- Everyone that contributed food towards Saturday’s potluck, and all-weekend noshing.
- Barbara for the humungous pot of chili and picking up sandwiches, etc. at Publix
- Everyone that welcomed new-to-clay attendees and provided mentoring all weekend.
Feedback was all-around positive, so we’ll do it again next year. If you are interested in helping organize the event, please contact Barbara.
Valentine’s Class and Upcoming Spring Class
Our Polymer Education Heroes Ellen and Cindy led an enormously successful Valentine’s themed class at Lafayette on February 8. Over 20 students of all ages made lovely heart pendants from polymer. Feedback to Lafayette was overwhelmingly positive and they have already asked us to teach a Spring class on Saturday, April 12.
We need 2-3 volunteers to lead the class, which is will be a sculpted bunny face pendant with a couple of pastel egg-shaped beads for accent. Barbara will provide the sample and the tutorial information, but can’t help with the class due to a prior commitment.
These classes help cover our monthly rental at Lafayette as well as help bring new members to our group. You don’t need to be a polymer clay master to teach the classes. An enthusiasm for the medium, willingness to donate your time, and a moderate amount of prep work are all that’s needed. Please contact Barbara to sign up and help out.
