Nancy: Build a Horse-araffe
This little guy is a mix of a horse and giraffe, naturally called a horse-araffe. His legs are delicate so when I demo I’ll make a base for the legs. His eyes can be jewels or beads. And his body can be a left over veneer.
The demo is focused on how to build a strong skeleton, the armature. I will have other examples to show. Any figure or creature can be made this way. What is important is a sturdy skeleton for support.
Three Steps:
- MAKE armature
- BULK UP body
- ADORN with polymer clay
What’s needed:
- Ruler & Sharpie
- Aluminum foil & masking or painters tape
- Aluminum craft wire (50 inches) & a wire cutter
- Flat nose players & scissors
- Scrap Clay & veneer
- Toothpick & seed beads
- Platform (optional)
