December Meeting – Scraps and the Stroppel Cane

When: Sunday, December 4 @ 1:00 PM
Where: Michaels Crafts Store Classroom
What: Scraps and the Stroppel Cane

Bring your basic clay kit and patterned scraps and cane ends from previous projects. Also bring some black clay. This is a great technique created by Alice Stroppel that results in stunning reuse of old canes and scraps.

Check out the Flickr group for additional examples.

Dayle Doroshow Workshop Weekend

Details have been posted for our workshop weekend with Dayle Doroshow. There are three classes from which to choose and discounts if you register for multiple classes. We need a minimum of 8 students in each class to hold the event. See this page for more information.

Looking Ahead

Our January meeting is currently scheduled for New Year’s Day. Let Barb know if you still want to meet. We can move the meeting to the following week, but will need to find a location as Michaels is not available on January 8.

February’s meeting will be our 4th Annual Clay Day and Chili Lunch. We’ll be meeting on Sunday, February 5. Things will get underway around 10 AM and go until 5 PM (or whenever we call ‘uncle’).

Barb will make a pot of chili (turkey) for our lunch and have AM coffee available. Please sign up to bring a coffee cake, green salad, rolls or cornbread, iced tea/soda and dessert. Please no shellfish or pork products. See the list below for what’s been claimed.

Barb will set up tables in the front room and her polymer clay library, tools, etc. will be available for everyone’s use.  If anyone wants a lesson on a specific technique,  we can arrange for a teacher.  Alternately, we can work through some book-based projects as a group. Or watch a polymer clay DVD or YouTube videos. There are extra pasta machines and tiles for work surfaces if you need to borrow equipment.

Regardless, we’ll have a great time.

Let Barb know if you are attending (and what you are bringing) by Friday, February 3 so she can plan accordingly and have enough food and workspace for everyone. Please note that a 1 large (but friendly) dog and a cat are in the house.  Click here to RSVP.
