Polymer Clay Class at Lafayette Arts & Crafts Center

The polymer clay class at LaFayette Arts and Crafts Center is starting up again this Thursday Aug. 25th. It runs from 6:30 to 9:00 for eight weeks and it runs you $48, which is six bucks a night or, if I got it right, $2.40 an hour. Ellen Rumsey Bellenot is, once again, at what serves as the helm.

What we do is to some extent dependent on who’s in the class and their interests, but I’m thinking about doing surface techniques such as mono printing with acrylic paints and using mica powders with stencils (easy and great bang for your buck) and making them into pins and domed pendents with Jan Montarsi’s pendant bails. That still leaves some openings for lobbying by students.

The first night we’re going to do beads for an elasticized bracelet with translucent clay and embossing powders as inclusions. That way, if there are newbies I’ll be able to talk about general stuff to them while they work and they can get a feel for the glorious stuff. And I’d like another one, myself.

This is pretty short notice but if you know anyone who’d be interested they can sign up on line (at least you’re supposed to be able to) at https://www.talgov.com/parks/parks-cc-artscrafts.aspx
