Tallahassee Polymer Clay News for Week of November 12
Lots of news this week – please read through to the end!
December Meeting – New Day, Time and Location
Our December will take place on Saturday, December 1 at 1:30 PM. This month we will be meeting at the Lafayette Arts & Crafts Center, 501 Ingleside Avenue. The Center is around the corner from the Sue McCollum Community Center in Lafayette Park.
Plenty of free parking, we’ll meet in the front classroom. Bring a cold (or warm?) drink and maybe a small snack to share.
The theme for the meeting is Going Organic. We’re going to spend some time working with techniques inspired by Ronna Sarvas Weltman. Pods, chips, and other shapes inspired by nature will be our guide.
We added Ronna’s latest DVD, How to Make Polymer Clay Beads to our library last month, and Barbara will bring her copy of Ronna’s book, Ancient Modern: Polymer Clay And Wire Jewelry. You can also preview some of the projects on Ronna’s YouTube channel.
What to bring: basic clay kit, texture tools or sheets, a small burned out light bulb (if you have one) or a metal paint palette to use as a curved mold. If you are new to clay and don’t have a pasta machine, please let Barbara know and she can bring one for you to use.
Holiday Ornaments Class
As part of our arrangement with the City of Tallahassee Parks & Recreation Department, our first polymer project class will take place at Lafayette Arts & Crafts Center on Saturday, December 8. Barbara, Ellen, and Cindy have signed up to teach this class and provide supplies. Supplies for future classes will be ordered by the Center. If we have a large number of registrants, additional helpers will be needed. Please share this class opportunity with your family and friends. Here are the details:

What Polymer Clay Ornaments for Christmas or Hanukkah (Family Friendly Class)
Join members of the Tallahassee Polymer Clay Art Guild to make ornaments for your holiday decor using polymer clay, a colorful, safe, oven-hardening modeling material.
Supplies will be provided and you will leave with one or two completed ornaments for yourself or to give as gifts. Younger students will use cookie cutters to create snowflake, gingerbread, star or dreidel ornaments that can be decorated with a variety of materials. Older children and adults can choose to cover glass ornaments with slices of colorful clay millefiore canes or sheets of marbled or metallic color.
Children 14 and under must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
Students under 15 years of age will not use cutting blades for their projects.
